On a clear day you CAN see forever, which is why the cable car lines can be hours long when there are no clouds. Saturday was beastly hot but clear so I waited 90 minutes for the cable car which holds 65 people per trip. The ride up is 3-4 minutes and the ride down less than 3 minutes. The floor revolves 360 degrees during the ride, so you can see everything.
At the top there is an hour-long tour of the vegetation and orientation to the various views. My initial plan was to hike up, which takes a good hour and a half. I decided the hot sun would destroy my skin and carrying an umbrella would be too unwieldy, so waited in line and took the cable car. All views are stunning but this is my favorite. It shows Camps Bay, arguably one of the most beautiful beaches on earth.
