The island of Newfoundland has a population of 525,000 and a third of these inhabitants live in the capital of St. John’s. Corner Brook, the second largest city, where I stayed upon arrival, has about 20,000 residents, a veritable metropolis compared to Glenbournie-Birchy Head- Shoal Brook, where I am lodging for the next three days which has a population of 586. But things rarely change in these parts. The featured image was taken last night in Trout River, which is on the gulf of St Laurence. With a population of 552, it boasts having Seaside Restaurant rated the best seafood restaurant in all of the Gros Morne national park area. I can attest to a delicious scallop dinner last night. The few businesses in Trout River operate out of charmingly renovated former sheds. With so few inhabitants, it is no wonder that the highways and roadways are in perfect condition. There are a few two story homes here but most are modest and small. All with stunning water views.
