What Does Upper Middle Class Life Look Like in Cape Town?

Think the  equivalent of upper Northwest DC/Chevy Chase/Arlington where I am staying in an Air B&B. Actually, I am in the cabana behind the house and overlook the swimming pool.

For $50 a night this is hard to beat.  The cabana has a comfortable bed, copious hot water, mini fridge, hair dryer, is a $2.00 Uber ride into downtown and has Will’s deli two blocks away.  Here is where I had my coffee every morning. All white clientele; all black waitstaff.  Usually the piped in music features Elvis Presley singing Love Me Tender.

Tarpley, I am looking out my window in snowy DC and thinking of you poolside in South Africa! So far away! Your trip sounds amazing. I love your descriptions of daily life and the great captions for photos. Thinking of the giant fern and delicate red flower as “friends” made me smile!! Thanks for taking me on your journey…

Thanks for reading! You are right, I smiled when I was in sunny warm weather and not in snow in DC. But sorry you and my daughter and her family suffered.
