Will fly to Buenos Aires on Thursday, January 5, 2017, to begin my warm weather winter travel. From Buenos Aires I cross over to Mendoza for hiking in the Andes, followed by several weeks in Santiago and Valparaiso for art and culture. The last two stops will be the Island of Chiloe and San Carlos de Bariloche.
I decided upon Chiloe because the Island has about 20 hand carved wooden churches, some built in the 1500s. My brother, Tony, who died on December 9th, was a sculptor and wood worker. My belief is that he would have loved seeing these beautiful creations, preserved as a World Heritage site.
My travel blog is now formally up and running. Stay tuned for periodic photographs and commentary!
